Double Birthday Celebrations at Luton Hoo!

So...Last year we spent Jake's birthday at Luton Hoo…Remember this Surprise Land Rover Experience? And ever since that weekend we have been dying for an excuse to go back and I can't think of a better one than my birthday!! The best bit was this year I also got to celebrate this special day with one of my BFF Nikita, Happy Birthday to us!!!
The footman greeted me with 'Good morning Mrs Carlson" and opened the door ushering me into the grand reception with it's breath taking decor and royal chandeliers, I felt like a true Princess. Luton Hoo really is the perfect place for both girlie pampering and a romantic break.

While we relaxed in one of the seating rooms over looking the gardens and enjoyed an afternoon tea, the footman organized our bags to be taken straight to our room. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves!

The pillared front of the mansion is absolutely stunning and as soon as you pass through the grand doors at the entrance, you never want to leave.

We wondered out the front to take some pictures and that's when we saw it....the most beautiful tree in the world!! It was just standing there looking all pretty, begging us to come and take a photo of it!

We booked the Romantic break package, which meant we were greeted with a bottle of chilled champagne with chocolate dipped strawberries in our room on arrival...Luton Hoo definitely know how to make you feel special!!

In the evening we retired to our rooms to get changed into our best. Jackets and ties for the gentlemen and birthday dresses and heels for the ladies. We were about to indulge in an exquisite fine dining experience at the award-winning Wernher Restaurant. As soon as we arrived we were treated like royalty, chairs were positioned for us our napkins laid on our laps. Based on our previous experiences we had extremely high expectations yet somehow the incredibly talented guys & girls at the Wernher completely surpassed every goalpost.

We had the Tasting Menu, a six course degustation and every course was 'melt in your mouth' delicious. I literally couldn't pick a favorite as they were all so good!

Goat's cheese and beetroot cannelloni w pickled heritage carrots & carrot puree

Pan fried turbot w roasted cepes & chestnuts, wilted kale & confit heritage potatoes

Tasting of Pork, roast fillet, cripsy belly & glazed cheek w pommes puree & Madeira reduction

White chocolate, ginger and raspberry triffle

It was a fabulous evening! The food and wine were superb and of course, the company entertaining, lets just say that we were the last guests to leave the restaurant!

And just as we thought things couldn't be any better, we got a gorgeous birthday surprise! Luton Hoo certainly know it's the little touches that make a difference with your stay. The attention to detail and personal touches to every aspect of their service is truly amazing.

Nothing beats waking up in the biggest, softest marshmallow bed in the countryside.

Does anyone else look forward to peaking in the bathroom and seeing the bathroom amenities? I loved that Luton Hoo stocked Molton Brown. Pink pepperpod body wash was my favourite!

We eventually made our way back to the Wernher Restaurant where we met up with Nikita and Jonathan and enjoyed a traditional English breakfast. Not only did they offer a full buffet they also offer a full A La Carte menu, naturally we decided to do both. Would be rude not too really.

After breakfast we went for a lovely walk through the estate. Luton Hoo has over a 1,000 acres of glorious parkland, meadows, woodlands, lakes, rivers and nature trails to be explored. However, my favourite by far is the formal gardens designed by the famous Capability Brown! Nikita's husband Jonathan, is much like Jake and prefers to stay behind the camera or as we like to call them #instagramhusbands. Jonathan and Jake are as close as Nikita and I are, so it made for a wonderful birthday getaway with double the fun!

Meet Percy Luton Hoo's resident Peacock...unsure of what his actual name is, but we decided to call him Percy...he looks like a Percy don't you think?!

One of the main reasons I love coming back to Luton Hoo is their amazing Spa, which is located in the estates’s old stable courtyard. We put on our swimmers, robes and slippers and spent most of our afternoon here unwinding in the infinity pool, jacuzzi and heat therapy suite. Absolute bliss!
