J&J in LA ~ Disneyland

We ended our LA trip with the happiest place on earth!! That's right, I'm starting to complete my ‘Visit every Disneyland in the world’ challenge! I don't think I'm alone in saying that Disney is one of my favourite places to visit! When I'm feeling down, watching Beauty and the Beast for the 2671st time is just what I need to feel like my old self again!

Disneyland Anaheim is actually made up of two parks, Disneyland and California Adventure. We had 2 Day Disneyland Hopper Tickets and spent out first day at Disneyland! I loved walking up the Main Street and seeing all the autumn and Halloween decorations.

Watching my nephews faces was just, priceless! It’s not called ‘The happiest place on earth’ for nothing!

We stayed at Disneyland's Paradise Pier Hotel for two nights. This gave us two whole days to explore and enjoy the atmosphere and when we decided we needed a break we could head back to the hotel and jump in the pool and relax! Now this is how you do Disneyland!

Of course we watched the Mickeys Sound Sensational parade! Where else can you see all your favourite Disney characters dancing, singing and drumming to an infectious beat?! To see each character I have grown up with parade down the street was incredibly exciting.

This may have been my highlight of our visit…Breakfast with Mickey!! That's right, we got to indulge on Mickey waffles, Minnie pancakes and Banana Foster French toast all while our favourite Disney characters cruised by to say hello and take pictures. Honestly, I think I was the biggest kid in the room! I got so giddy with excitement each time a new Disney character came over to say hello I pretty much leaped off my chair each time.

The next day we hit up California Adventure Park!

One of my favorite parts of this park was Car's Land.  It honestly feels as though you have walked into the Cars movie with Flo's V8 café, the Cozy Cone Hotel and your favorite Car's character's actually driving around you!

We spent two fun filled days running around taking in all the sights, sounds and going on rides. On our last night we decided to end it with a bang! We booked a three course dinner at Ariels Grotto Restaurant which also reserved us a spot for the World of Colour show. It is truly one of the best water and light shows of all the Disney Parks! If this isn’t living the dream, I don’t know what is!

Our top tips for visiting Disneyland!

Disneyland Anaheim is made up of two parks, Disneyland and California Adventure which are located opposite each other. Before you plan your visit you need to select which ticket you want to get. We got a 2 Day Disneyland Hopper Ticket which was great as you really need at a minimum a whole day in each park to see everything.

Stay close! There are so many pro’s to staying at a Disneyland hotel because no one likes traffic and parking lots?! Also it’s a pretty full on day, especially if you have little one’s with you.  At the end of the day, you don’t want to travel far. The other great thing about staying in one of the Disneyland resort hotels is ‘magic hours’.  That’s right, you can avoid lines and zoom around the park before it’s open to the public. Did I mention the character breakfast’s too?!

Take a rest! I would highly recommend getting out of the park from 1-4pm it’s the hottest part of the day. Also its peak time so the rides normally have over an hour wait time. Go back to your hotel, rest,  jump in the pool! Trust me, your feet, brain will thank me!

Eat out! Get out of the park, for something to eat. It’s way cheaper and nicer than the food you buy in the park (which is overpriced). Not too far from Disneyland we found PF Chang’s.  One word GO!!! We all agreed this meal was one of the highlights of our whole trip! Did I mention that right next door is the famous Cheesecake factory? The best place to pick up a sweet treat afterwards. Snickers cheesecake...that's all I will say!

Master the Fastpass! Make sure you use these! It will save you so much time on the day. Fastpass basically saves you a place in line for the most popular Disneyland and California Adventure attractions. You go to a Fastpass ticket machine and return at the time marked on the pass. Another tip is that for some super popular rides Fastpass times book up early. Another reason to take advantage of that morning visit.

Plan your day! Figure out all the rides you want to go on and which ones you can pick up fastpasses for. Then make sure you plan your rides around the shows you want to see. I would recommend World of Color. It is truly one of the best water and light shows of all the Disney Parks. It is spectacular and worth the wait after a long day at the park. If you do a World of Color Dining Package, you can do a dinning experience with a 3 course dinner which also reserves, in advance, your spot in the Paradise Park preferred World of Color viewing area!
