Luton Hoo Hotel ~ Land Rover Experience

Jake and I have always been big on birthdays, so this year I decided to surprise the Hubby by taking him away for a little getaway. He arrived home to find his bag's packed and an envelope revealing our destination......Luton Hoo Hotel. Birthdays don't come much better than those spent at luxury five-star hotels for his own personal off road Land Rover Experience! My husband is quite possibly the biggest Land Rover fan and he's been missing the great outdoors. So this was the perfect destination for a weekend in the beautiful English country side.

We arrived through large wrought iron gates which lead to a long winding tree lined driveway through some of the 1000 acres which includes it's own golf course, and then out of nowhere the main building appeared in all it's glory! We received a warm welcome from the footman who immediately took all our bags and led us through to reception. It made Jake and I feel like we had just arrived at our very own Downton Abby!

Our stay started off with our off-road Land Rover Experience which saw us tumble over hills, suspend on two wheels and crash into deep pools of mud! Our instructor was amazing and really down to earth making it a great experience, Jake was in his element and spent hours behind the wheel! You seriously don't have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy yourself!

It was time for some pampering after all this exhilarating off road driving. We headed to Luton Hoo’s stunning spa. Located in the mansion’s old stable courtyard, the spa is perfect for grabbing some relaxation time and getting away from it all. We spent the afternoon unwinding in the infinity pool and heat therapy suite at The Spa.

We were then whisked back to the hotel in in one of their free black London cabs which they use to get their guests around the estate. Back at the mansion house, we were left free to relax in the lounge or stroll the stunning grounds. We made our way back to our room to get ready for our dinner at the exclusive Werner Restaurant. Food is certainly one of Luton Hoo’s fortes!

I always love getting dressed up for Jake and this dress was an easy choice for Jakes special Birthday dinner. I purchased it as a surprize and secretly packed it in my suitcase with out him knowing so needless to say he was stunned when I walked out of the bathroom in this number! We took the opportunity to take a few snaps in the hotels formal gardens designed by the famous Capability Brown, before heading to dinner. Because this dress is one worth twirling for and almost sold out! go, go, go!

After a well deserved, food-induced sleep in an incredibly comfy bed, we woke up for yet more eating. A fresh breakfast of fruit, pastries and a full English cooked breakfast along with tea and coffee. There is one downside to Luton Hoo, and that’s leaving, if we could move in we would! It was an unforgettable weekend and the birthday boy loved his special surprise, but now has not stopped talking about buying a Land Rover! Lucky his next birthday is not for another 365 days.....
