J&J in French Riviera: Part 4

It was time for a bit of glitz and glamour!  Cannes is where the biggest celebrities come together every year for the world renowned Cannes Film Festival.  Unfortunately for us, we were just a couple months early...however, we still had high hopes that we would bump into someone famous!

If you're like us and didn't bump into any celebrities, Cannes is still a must stop on the French Riviera.  With its sandy beaches, exclusive boutiques, fancy cars and expensive yachts, it cannot fail to impress.

One of the main things we loved to do on this trip was to visit the local French markets and pick up scrumptious picnic food for an alfresco lunch on the beach or park bench.  Forville Market is the most famous French market in Cannes and located near Le Suquet.  The artisan baked breads, cheeses, olives, truffles, fruits and beautiful flowers are all freshly sourced from local farmers.

After exploring the markets and picking up some goodies, we found a perfect spot to enjoy our picnic, soak up the sun and enjoy the views of the harbour.

Enjoyed with a few glasses of prosecco!

The rest of the family have picked up on our travel bug.... if you want to follow along on all our adventures check out #carlsonsontour

After lunch on the waterfront we picked up an ice cream from Amorino, before exploring the famous La Croisette promenade.  This wide walkway runs along the oceanfront of Cannes and is lined with high end shops, quaint cafes and fancy restaurants.  It’s a beautiful area to walk around.

Is this not the prettiest ice cream you ever did see?

You can’t go to Cannes without visiting the Palais des Festivals et des Congres, aka where they hold the Cannes Film Festival.   There was no red carpet but we did stop by the Star-Studded floor were there are over 300 hand prints of famous celebrities and film directors.  A great place to take some photos and have a bit of fun!

That afternoon we found the perfect little jetty by the beach and spent the afternoon people watching.

I'm loving this seasons Gingham trend!

In the evening we made our way to Old Town Cannes, for dinner at Salsamenteria di Parma.  The restaurant specialises in small plates and platters of Italian meats, French cheeses, bread and wine.  Italian you say?  Well, the boarder of Italy is not too far away!  And it was well worth the visit.  The service was helpful and friendly.

They serve wine in a bowl.  You must try the Lambrusco with your meal! Delizioso!

Next stop along the French Riviera was Saint Tropez! You can see why this seaside town is so popular. Situated on the Mediterranean sea, with it’s sandy beaches and it's charming port, lined with restaurants, cafés and coastal villas makes it as pretty as a post card!

We decided to pick up a hot drink at the trendy and stylish, Café Dior.  Yes you heard right, Dior has a café!   I was beyond excited.....until we arrived to find out it was closed! With my broken heart, I picked myself up and still took some pretty photos out the front and in the garden under the facade of the House of Dior.  We found out that Dior Des Lices cafe is open from May onwards. If you happen to visit during this time, please do order a drink for me!  Apparently the must order is a hot drink with the ʺDiorʺ logo!

We were in luck, we visited Saint Tropez in the off season, so we pretty much had these pretty little streets to ourselves. We enjoyed our last full day in the French Riviera at a slower pace finding cute vespa's down little alleyways.

We spent most of our afternoon, wondering around the seaside looking at all the colourful coastal villas that lined the waterfront.

I brought this top the day before in Cannes at Zara.  It basically had "buy me" written all over it. I loved the bell sleeves with the lace detail.

Over all we absolutely fell in love with the French Riviera.  I hope you enjoyed following me on my adventure....Can't wait to take you along on the next one.

Till next time!
