J&J in Croatia: Part 4 ~ Zadar & Pag Island

We travelled further north up the coast of Croatia to a cute little town called Zadar.

A major highlight of Zadar is it's waterfront, where you will find the Sea Organ & Sun Salutation. The Sea Organ is a set of stone stairs that descend into the sea and contains a system of pipes and whistles that makes beautiful sounds when the waves crash up against it. It was a little windy when we went for a walk along the waterfront and this made the Sea Organ sound incredible!

The Sun Salutation is a 22m wide circle of glass plates that collect the sun's energy during the day and together with the waves energy that makes the Sea Organ sound, it produces a light show from sunset to sunrise. Unfortunately we were a bit tired from our adventures out on the boat the day before and didn’t get the chance to see the light show. It still looked impressive in the day time and I bet it would look incredible all lit up at night!

We ventured off to Pag Island where the sparkling turquoise waters surround beautiful barren landscapes and secluded beaches. Pag Island is famous for its sheep cheese and it's wineries. We were told that the Boškinac Winery was a must visit and we were not disappointed. The degustation menu with matching wines would satisfy even the most discerning connoisseur!

As we walked in to Boškinac Winery, we were greeted with gorgeous views of olive groves and vineyards. Inside was a beautiful courtyard and a cascading terrace with wrought iron cushioned seating surrounded by pots, pergolas and trailing grape vines.

Jake and I are obsessed with food and wine and our slow, luxurious lunch was as amazing as we had hoped it would be. We were treated to the very best of the local produce from Pag Island. Our waiter was warm and friendly and explained each dish that was brought out along with our matching wines.

Cheers!

We started with local Ous vide cuttlefish and olive oil dust...

Followed by Croatian snapper, zucchini flower and squid ink

Each dish was beautifully presented and the flavours matched each other perfectly.

Squid with cream potato cream and poached egg yolk...

Pag lamb filet which Pag Island is famous for...

Pag Island Cheesecake, wild fruit citrus & mint…Devine!

Boškinac is not only a winery and a restaurant. It is also a four star hotel. If you are looking for incredible food, wine, scenery and relaxation then this is the place to visit.

After our amazing lunch we went down and explored the wine cellar where they also offer guided wine tours and tastings. Boškinac has received many awards and is considered to be one of Croatia's best wineries.

I had to include a quick fashion post about these comfy and oh so cute dungarees! Dungaree's are back in and I'm completely obsessed with them. I am loving these simple but chic white ones. I paired them with a stripe off the shoulder top which looks especially cute peaking out from behind the overall’s straps!

After such a relaxing and beautiful day in Zadar, we decided to make our way to Plitvice Lakes where we stayed the night in a cute cabin, resting up for the next day. We wanted to make an early start in the morning and be one of the first into the park. Plitvice Lakes is very popular and it can get incredibly busy. We were able to get some amazing photos. It was so incredibly beautiful that it needed it's very own blog post…coming soon!
